Letter from the President
I often get asked what to look for in a senior level executive coach. “How do I choose the right coach for me?” The answer is simple: you need chemistry and competency. Referring to competency, Jack Welch said, “there are some charlatans out there who simply tell you what you want to hear or don’t have much feel for leadership, having never done it themselves. They’re useless… Good executive coaches provide a truly important service however.” Jack’s comments are right on target; competency really matters.
Timbre coaches believe that competency comes from experience. Our coaches have all been successful senior executives with proven track records and a minimum of 20 years of experience. They have walked in your shoes, can relate to your challenges, and firmly believe that successful senior leadership isn’t about complicated theories. It’s about getting the fundamentals right.
Now what do I mean by chemistry? Chemistry is a feeling that involves trust, respect, warmth, sincerity, and other things people look for in any substantial relationship. Good chemistry allows you to be open and completely at ease. If you have good chemistry, you feel it.
We create great chemistry by being genuine. Senior level coaching isn’t about acting or playing a role. It’s about getting in the trenches with your clients and helping them help themselves.
